International Women's Day is a global day annually celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Marked annually on March 8th, International Women's Day(IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to:
· celebrate women's achievements.
· raise awareness about issues of women's inequality.
· lobby for accelerated gender parity.
· fundraise for female-focused charities.
For International Women's Day and beyond, let's all fully #EmbraceEquity. Equity isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society's DNA. And it's a critical call to understand the difference between equity and equality. Read more about this here. Give equity a huge embrace.
Equality versus Equity: What's the difference as we #EmbraceEquity for IWD 2023 and beyond?
The words equity and equality are often used interchangeably. The IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme seeks to help forge a worldwide conversation about this important issue and its impact. Let's start with a basic definition of each word. Equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities. Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.
