About the event
In celebration of International Women’s Day, Women of Toledo (WOT) is hosting a luncheon on Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Toledo Museum of Arts, Glass Pavilion. The International Women’s Day Luncheon will feature a panel speaker, #BreakTheBias, with four women from different parts of the globe who now call Toledo home. Their uplifting immigrant stories about struggle, journey, loss, and accomplishment from women who have forged diverse paths to arrive in Northwest Ohio will inspire everyone.
International Women's Day is a global day annually celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
Marked annually on March 8th, International Women's Day(IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to:
- celebrate women's achievements
- raise awareness about issues of women's inequality
- lobby for accelerated gender parity
- fundraise for female-focused charities
The theme for 2022, #BreakTheBias, emphasizes women’s achievements while encouraging all to strive for inclusion and equity. #BreakTheBias celebrates differences by breaking down stereotypes and recognizing women’s diverse strengths. We will help #BreakTheBias locally by hearing from the speakers about their own lives and how they have overcome obstacles. Harnessing the power of women’s stories, together we celebrate all women's achievements, raise awareness against bias that still present challenges for many women, and take action for equality for women in our communities and around the world.
