About the event

Join the Young Women of Toledo and the City of Toledo Human Relations Commission for the 2024 Youth Forum on Saturday, October 12, in celebration of the International Day of the Girl. The event will focus on youth civic engagement, community involvement, and human rights, empowering young people to drive change and safeguard their freedoms for a just and equitable society.

Your youth will have the opportunity to explore how they can shape their communities and advocate for the rights and freedoms that belong to them as we seek to empower the next generation of leaders. Through education, engagement, and empowerment, participants will dive into:

Civic Engagement and Community Involvement – Youth involvement in activities like volunteering, service-learning, and environmental advocacy benefits both personal growth and the community. Young people can shape their neighborhoods and create inclusive, welcoming spaces through their actions.

Human Rights – Every young person deserves to be safe, respected, and treated fairly. While they may face obstacles or discrimination, standing up for their rights and those of others helps build a more just and equal society.

Civic engagement and human rights are critical because they provide young people with the tools to influence change, protect their freedoms, and ensure a just and equitable society for all.
